Dear reader,
Thank you for your interest in the study Positive Emotions during Imagery. My name is Zain Gangaram, a research intern at the faculty of psychology and neuroscience, dept. experimental clinical psychology at Maastricht University.
I have listed all the practical information needed on this page. Please feel free to reach out to me at zain.gangaram@maastrichtuniversity.nl should you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Skip the brief background information if you already know about the experiment and just want to participate
Brief background information: The study is centered around a treatment technique for anxiety and/or trauma that utilizes the ability to use mental imagery through a more positive perspective. If I asked you to imagine eating a lemon right now, come on, go ahead and try and imagine it for real!! ... Do you taste the sourness of the lemon juice coating your tongue? How about the soft stringy flesh as you pull it away from your lips? Does the sourness make your face a bit tight? Do you maybe have a bit of saliva in your mouth now? This same type of mental imagery has the ability to manipulate memories in either a positive or negative way. It is a powerful method that can influence your emotions, thoughts, and bodily sensations. If used in a positive way, we believe that it can be extremely beneficial to those suffering from anxiety and traumas to change negative memories into more positive ones.
